Now that the deadline of the EU whistleblowing Directive has expired, we need to ask: is it still relevant post-Brexit? In short, yes.
While the UK has no obligation to implement the Directive, British companies which operate throughout Europe might still need to comply with some of the provisions.
Together with Dentons, we hosted a webinar on the Directive and its implications for the UK. Sarah Partridge-Smith, Senior Associate at Dentons, answered questions such as:
- How is the UK still (indirectly) concerned by the Directive, despite no longer being part of the EU?
- What do UK-based companies with subsidiaries in the EU need to be aware of?
- What are the main differences between the EUWBD and the British Public Interest Disclosure Act from 1998?
- What are the biggest challenges for UK companies in complying with the regulations?
